Tragaču, tragaču, ach co já se pro tebe, synečku, naplaču……
Our women’s choir – formerly a girls’ choir – was founded in 1972. The modern history of the group dates back to the 1990s, and several singers from that period are still active members today. In recent years, the choir has adopted the name Tragačnice.
Over time, our ranks have expanded to include young women who once danced in The Kyjov Moravian Ensemble, as well as others who simply didn’t want to spend all their time at home with daily responsibilities. For them, the choir became a great choice—because, as we all know, singing helps to forget everyday worries and brings joy and good spirits.
Today, our group has around 20 members. We meet every week, and each rehearsal is a wonderful evening filled with singing, shared creativity, and developing new programmes. Through this shared work, we strengthen our friendships and enjoy plenty of laughter along the way.
A great reward for our efforts has been the opportunity to perform throughout the Czech Republic as well as on international festival tours together with our dance ensemble. Our repertoire is based mainly on songs from the Kyjov region. We usually sing a cappella, occasionally accompanied by Jiří Petrů’s cimbalom band or our friend Pavel Švorba on the accordion. In 2013, we recorded our favourite songs on CD.
The very name Tragačnice suggests our style—we enjoy lively, cheerful songs, humorous сценes with movement and simple dance, and above all, a great atmosphere.
We have been using the name Tragačnice since 2010.
