The Prep group is one of the dance ensembles of the Kyjov Moravian ensemble, which has been based in Kyjov continuously since 1942. It is the youngest part of the ensemble, with the main mission of passing on the rich heritage of folk traditions to the younger generation and fostering a love for folklore, music, and dance.

In its work, the Prep Group focuses primarily on dances and songs from the Kyjov region, including lively skočná dances, the Milotice “Slovenská,” and the traditional male dance verbuňk. The ensemble also incorporates staged adaptations of folk dances into its repertoire, creating space for creativity and expressive stage performances.

The dancers regularly perform at local events in Kyjov as well as at various folklore festivals. Throughout the year, they take part in traditional customs and events such as hody-time festival, harvest festivals, the erection and cutting of the Maypole, and cimbalom music gatherings. Their activities are thus a natural part of the cultural life of both the town and the wider region—folklore for them is not only a stage performance, but a living tradition that connects generations.

Each season, the Preparatory Group presents its own 20–30 minute programme, combining choreographies from previous years with newly created dance pieces.
